Introduction of the speaker:
Doctor Domínguez graduated from National Autonomous University of Mexico, and he gained his master and doctorate degree at University of Paris 8. Starting from his doctoral thesis presented in May 2012 (Rythme, geste, montage: esquisse pour une technologico-politique par le cinéma), he shifted his initial interest in Gilles Deleuze's thought of cinema to concentrate on his own development of the notion of gesture. Once in Chile, his philosophical interest will focus not only on the cinema, but also on the modifications of sensibility carried out by contemporary techniques, media, devices and apparatus, especially the so-called ICTs (information and communication technologies).
In addition to the aforementioned studies, Domínguez is interested in contemporary Mexican cinema, in horror films, in classical cartography and maps in general, in the comparative mythology of Dumézil and the metaphysical lucubrations of Borges, in the aesthetics of American football. , for the design of ancient artifacts, for pop culture and accounts of medieval heresies, for the texture of pre-Hispanic ruins, for libraries, second-hand bookstores, Mexican albures and dusty books.
